This exorcism miracle is recounted in today’s gospel from Luke 11. The Lord makes it clear that his victory over evil rests on the kingdom of evil being divided against itself; this makes sense in lots of ways. When we give way to sin so often we’re obsessed with independence and selfishness, vices which make it impossible to cooperate with other people; such a kingdom, such a nation, falls in the end. The challenge in our first reading from Jeremiah (7: 21-28) illustrates how the kingdom of Judah has turned its back on God, not following his commands – similar really.Good bless and take care
