Beast from the East

For a good few days now most, if not all of the country, has been experiencing snow, blizzards and very cold temperatures. The weather forecasters have called it the Beast from the East. It’s an interesting name; although it can describe an animal, beast can also mean someone or something far more sinister like a brutish person wishing us harm, a vile creature of some kind. Of course the ‘mark of the beast’ is the stamp on the forehead or right hand of a worshipper of the antichrist. The short reading for Night Prayer last Tuesday was 1 Peter 5:8-9 “Be calm but vigilant, because your enemy the devil is prowling round like a roaring lion, looking for someone to eat. Stand up to him, strong in faith”.

When we do this the devil will retreat quicker than the current Beast from the East.
