The deadly attack on two Coptic churches in Alexandria and Tanta took place on Palm Sunday. On Beckenham Green on Good Friday at the end of the Walk of Witness and following an emotional speech by a member of the Coptic Church in Beckenham, a spontaneous collection was taken up which raised £1275.
After our own Easter Vigil celebrations, Fr Steve joined the Coptic community at theirs and was made welcome with great joy. Our special collection for the injured and bereaved of the bombings last Sunday raised an astonishing £1597.
Fr Steve has received a gracious letter from Bishop Antony, the head of the Coptic Church in this country expressing his thanks to the fellow Christians in Beckenham.
