Please join us for this year’s World Day of Prayer, to be held on at 11.30 am on Friday, 6 March at St Mary’s, Shortlands. The theme is “I will give you rest, come”, with readings and music written by an ecumenical group of Christian women from Nigeria.
Our Nigerian sisters call us to come closer to God and find rest in him. The service shares the stories of four Nigerian women who inspire us to work towards a world without injustice, poverty, marginalisation and persecution.
The annual, women-led World Day of Prayer unites Christian congregations in 146 countries in a great wave of prayer in native languages. The sponsoring country changes each year, as does its theme, but it always starts near the international date line in Samoa, rolls around the globe, then finishes in American Samoa 38 hours later.
The service lasts about an hour, and a light lunch will follow. Please put 6 March in your diary and come along to meet men and women from churches across Beckenham.
