Our priests are finding it hard to prepare the church for Mass on weekday mornings. They start soon after 9.00 am to set up the altar, prepare the books and the vessels, and then three days a week lead the rosary, before celebrating Mass.
After Mass they remain in the church whilst Adoration is taking place and hear confessions. After reposing the Blessed Sacrament they then need to clear the altar, remove the books and wash the vessels that have been used.
In the past a small dedicated team of people have assisted in all of this.
Other people will have led the rosary and following Mass someone would have remained in the church whilst Adoration was taking place so the Blessed Sacrament was never left unattended.
The parishioners who did all this have assisted us for many years and now have reached the point when they are no longer able to help.
It has therefore fallen to our priests to do all these tasks themselves.
We need people to help prepare for each morning Mass. All the tasks can be itemised and what needs to be done will be shown to anyone who volunteers.
Individuals can sign up for a specified day each week. They can work with a friend or build a new team. They do not have to do it forever. They can step away at any point.
Morning Mass cannot continue without help. Please speak to one of the priests if you can assist.
