In common with most organisations, it has not been easy to keep going during the pandemic, but we have come through amazingly well. After two years of small gatherings of six people in parks and gardens we are back to monthly meetings in the Hall. These are at 2:30 on the second Monday of the month and prospective members are welcome to attend.
We recently took stock of our finances and were pleased to discover that, despite the loss of fundraising opportunities in the past two years, we have donated over £2000.00 to local and national charities, ranging from local food banks and organisations to major disaster appeals. Our most recent effort was a small table sale for members which raised money for Cafod’s work in the Philippines.
We have 23 members who enjoy meeting up on a regular basis for tea and conversation; future activities will include quizzes and possible outings to places of interest. We hope to find speakers for some meetings, which were a regular feature in the past, and resume occasional coffee mornings for parishioners after Mass on Sunday once restrictions have eased. Our survival is due to the loyalty and commitment of our members, and new people are always welcome to join us.
