Duncan has been a valued member of our parish clergy team for the last couple of years or so. He was one of the first graduates in the new MA programme in Catholic Social Teaching last summer (which all our diaconate students now study), and Archbishop John has now asked him to take on a new role in the arch[1]diocese in relation to Community Sponsorship schemes being set up in parishes for the support of refugee families, following the request from Pope Francis that every parish in Europe should be involved in this work. As deacons are expected to have a specialist role in charitable work and Catholic Social Teaching it’s very good that a deacon is being given this important co-ordinating role. This role will draw on Duncan’s experience in the housing sector.
We are very grateful to Duncan for all he has done here in the last two years and we wish him and Marian our best wishes for the future.
