Arrangements for Christmas (Updated)

To reduce the pressure for places at Masses on Christmas Day, it has been announced that the obligation to attend Mass on Christmas Day itself has been extended to cover the Octave of Christmas. This means that to fulfil this obligation parishioners are able to attend any Mass up to and including the Friday after Christmas Day. Our Christmas Masses are at the following times:

6.00 pm Vigil Mass of Christmas

7.30 pm Vigil Mass of Christmas

12.00 am Midnight Mass

8.00 am

9.30 am

Christmas Masses are by ticket only to ensure social distancing as a result of the Covid19 restrictions. Please see the links below for booking your ticket.

  1. Spaces are limited and on a ‘first come first served’ basis.
  2. You can book a single ticket or the number you need to accommodate your Christmas bubble or household.
  3. Please present the tickets at the church door to gain access.
  4. Those who are part of the same booking are to sit together.

By tradition the collection at Christmas is for our priests. Whilst at the Christmas masses we won’t take a collection, the basket will be at the back of the church for those who wish to make an offering.

Please remember to use your Gift Aid envelopes if you have them.

Many of you now make your offering by standing order or through ChurchSuite, for which we thank you. However, for the priests to receive an offering, it must be identifiable as a gift for them. Please therefore would you set up a special payment with a reference of Christmas.

As Fr Simplicio has been with us for most of the year Fr Steve has decided that any gifts will also be shared with him.

We regret that we are unable to have our usual Advent Reconciliation Service this year. We have therefore added extra times for those of you
who wish to come to confession before Christmas:

Saturday 19 December – 11.00 am -12 noon and 4.00 pm – 5.55 pm
Monday 21 December – 6.30 pm – 8.00pm
Christmas Eve – 10.30 am – 12 noon
