This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Lenten journey. I am sure some of you need no reminding of this! Too often the Season of Lent can be seen as a miserable and joyless period of time endured with gritted teeth and dogged determination. However, Lent can be, for all of us, a positive journey of spiritual growth if we approach it in the right way, with a willingness to embrace our cross and walk with Jesus as he carries his own.
A beautiful and powerful way of doing this is by coming to the Stations of the Cross here in the church, on Fridays at 7pm*. Fr Sean Finnegan in his book Lent: Learning to Love Like Jesus, says, ‘There is not the slightest doubt in my mind that a good Lent makes for a wonderful Easter.’ I wholeheartedly agree!

*If you are unable to attend the Stations of the Cross on Friday evenings, Fr Steve would like to encourage you to follow them alone or with a group of friends at any time. There are booklets on the tables at the back of the church to help guide you. Please would you return them to the table after you have used them.
The Claver Convent will also have Stations of the Cross every Friday during Lent at 3pm
