This Monday is the feast day of our patron, St Edmund of Canterbury. We know him by this title because he was indeed the Archbishop of Canterbury (1233-1240). He is also known as Edmund of Abingdon (then in Berkshire, now in Oxfordshire), and St Edmund of Rich after his father Reginald Rich.
There are many things one could say about St Edmund but reading through his life it is clear that he was a notable administrator even though he found administration distasteful, something I have a certain amount of sympathy with. More importantly, he had a great love of the scriptures, was generous in almsgiving and keen on educating both those in the religious life and the laity in spiritual perfection.
A very happy feast day to you all.
God Bless
