With great regret we have to announce that (unless the government is defeated in the House of Commons tomorrow) we have to close the church for public worship from Thursday, so the last public Mass will be tomorrow evening at 6pm. Many of you have asked our MPs to try and get evidence out of the government for this step, and we shall see whether anything appears – but don’t hold your breath!
From Thursday Mass will be livestreamed at the times at which it has been celebrated in recent months (10 and 6 on weekdays and 930 and 530 on Sundays). The church will be open for prayer from 12 noon to 1pm, Mondays to Saturdays. Hopefully when this lockdown period ends at the beginning of next month we will be able to return to the pattern which we have operated since early July.
This has been a particularly stressful time for Cardinal Nichols and our Bishops Conference – please pray for them this week.
God bless and take care
Fr Ashley
