Fr James Mallon prays before he reads the Gospel\u00a0at Mass that he will approach the homily with fear\u00a0and trembling, but also that God will use him in his\u00a0preaching. His prayer goes something like this:\u00a0\u201cLord, help me not to be a total idiot. Use me.\u00a0\u00a0Come, Holy Spirit. Let me get out of your way. Let\u00a0my only motive be your glory and the building up of\u00a0your Kingdom\u201d.<\/p>\n

It may not be the way some of us would express our\u00a0prayers but you have to admit it\u2019s humble, honest\u00a0and to the point, and that\u2019s how prayer should be.\u00a0\u00a0Fr Steve<\/em><\/p>\n

Prayer for Peace:\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>The Catholic Bishops\u2019 Conference of England and Wales\u00a0Daily Prayer for Peace:<\/p>\n

Let us pray, through the intercession of Mary Queen of Peace, for peace on earth and an end to violence and\u00a0terrorism in our world, for a new spirit of trust and collaboration between nations, for the gift of wisdom for our politicians and leaders, and especially for the resolution of long-standing conflicts in Syria, Gaza and Ukraine, and in other countries around the world.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Today\u2019s second collection is for the upkeep of St George\u2019s Cathedral, Southwark\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Open Doors…\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Fr Steve has decided that from\u00a0now on the front doors to the\u00a0church will be left open at all\u00a0times whilst the church is\u00a0unlocked. Using the side door\u00a0as we have is not welcoming to\u00a0visitors and we are aware that\u00a0some simply don\u2019t know it is\u00a0there and on occasion fail to\u00a0find their way into the church.\u00a0Please will everyone assist in\u00a0this wish by not closing the door\u00a0at the front.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
