\"\"Bishop Pat Lynch will celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation at St Edmund’s on Thursday\u00a0<\/strong>7 June 2018 at 7 pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are now inviting applications to join the formation programme which will begin in January 2018.\u00a0<\/strong>You must be a parishioner of St.<\/strong> Edmund\u2019s<\/strong> or a student at Bishop Challoner School<\/strong> and you should be in Year 8 <\/strong>or above.\u00a0 (Applicants from Bishop Challoner School who are not parishioners of St Edmund’s will need to obtain permission from their Parish Priest.)<\/p>\n

The preparation will begin with Mass for candidates and their parents on Wednesday, 31st January 2018<\/strong> at 7.30 p.m.<\/strong> \u00a0Attendance at the Mass is mandatory.\u00a0 Parents are the first teachers of their children in the faith and this will be an ideal opportunity for them to revisit their commitment and to lead by example.\u00a0 The main part of the formation programme will consist of a number of weekday evening sessions with catechists. \u00a0There will also be one or two mandatory<\/strong> sessions on Saturday mornings in St Edmund’s Hall. \u00a0 All sessions will take place in school term-time.<\/p>\n

If you wish to join this course please complete the application form (download)<\/a>\u00a0 <\/em>or online here<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>and return it to the Parish Office by Sunday, 3 \u00a0<\/sup>December 2017,<\/strong> with a cheque for \u00a315<\/u>\u00a0payable to St Edmund\u2019s Church <\/strong>to cover costs.<\/p>\n

If you were not baptised at St.\u00a0Edmund\u2019s, you must also include a copy of your baptism certificate.\u00a0 Parish Offices are used to supplying these for this purpose so give them a phone call or send them an email.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Please remember that this is your personal act of commitment, so we ask you to think seriously about what you are undertaking.\u00a0 While you are requesting Confirmation for yourself, please get your parents\u2019 consent.\u00a0 Along with your parent or guardian please read and sign the agreement on the reverse of the application.\u00a0 We will contact all applicants who have been accepted, with precise details of the programme and your class day and time. This will be based on the preferences expressed on your application, so when applying, you must indicate 1st <\/sup>or \u00a02nd <\/sup>choice against the days offered. \u00a0<\/strong>We will do our best to give you your first choice of day, but cannot guarantee it.\u00a0 Any application that does not indicate a 2nd choice will be returned to you and will not be considered until you have completed the relevant field.<\/strong><\/p>\n
