One of the themes of this weekend’s Day for Life is the terrible and worsening incidence of human slavery and trafficking in this country. The churches have recently taken a very practical initiative in relation to something many of us do frequently – getting our cars washed. Our archbishop has asked us to back this – it is a Safe Car Wash app for our mobile phones, free to download. You will be asked questions about the place where you’re having your car washed and if things look ‘dodgy’ (an example is not actually paying very much) details will be passed on anonymously to the authorities to try and help people who are being forced to work under bad conditions.
